Finishing Touches

We had the opportunity to finish a quilt for a very good friend of TGQ. Jean is a long-time quilter. As a young girl, she thought the patterns her grandmother quilted were pretty, so in 1984 she decided to try her hand at quilting by making a lap-sized throw.  The quilt bug bit her!  What followed over the years includes 21 full size quilts, a 4’ x 4’ hanging quilt, six Christmas tree skirts, and numerous pillows and Christmas stockings.

She found she wasn’t able to finish hand quilting this beautiful patchwork she had made for her grandson and asked TGQ to finish the quilting and bind it. We didn’t want to lose the love in those stitches she had done by hand so we left them.  We have the ability to block sections for the long arm to skip over while quilting. Below is a photo of one of the blocks she had quilted by hand.

Knowing it was for a young man, we chose a pattern that would work well with the patchwork style of the top yet add interest. In this photo you see the custom design used on the top and a different design used on the borders.  Anyone who has been following photos on this website or our social media will notice we enjoy custom work where we can showcase the border with a unique pattern.

Thank you, Jean, for letting TGQ finish it for you.  We hope he cherishes this lovely keepsake you made him.
